Hi! My name is Alysa Loring, pronouns she/her. I am a professional freelance editor and the owner and operator of Bleeding Pen Editing.

I’ve worn many hats in my professional life—I am a trained and experienced educator and researcher, and I have worked as an editor, writer, researcher, and K–12 teacher. I have degrees in English and French (BA), cultural anthropology (MA), and eduction (MEd).

With over 20 years of editing and writing experience, I have helped write and build K–12 educational materials, and have edited, designed, and translated numerous materials—including children’s books, academic publications, and large-scale international science documents.

I have had the pleasure of working with people from around the globe—from students in Thailand, Alaska, and Hawai’i, to Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers, KidLit writers, and scientists across Turtle Island (commonly referred to as North America). I love helping writers find their voice so that their story comes alive!

When I am not word-smithing, or working on my own writing, I can be found enjoying the outdoors with my family and dog, practicing yoga, or creating art! I’m working on building my artistic skills in ceramics and illustration (check out my Instagram to see what I’ve been up to!)

I am always interested in new opportunities and look forward to learning more about your editing and writing needs.

Let me be your next set of eyes.
